May/June Issue of Cloth Paper & Scissors

I know I have professed my attraction to this zine before but, I spent last night drooling over great things, techniques and vendors. A majority of vendors in the back of the zine (this mention mostly for Eva in Estonia) are companies that sell stamps and scrapbook things so ever so creative. Like this one for all you "Stitchy" gals..

http://blockheadstamps.com/

Look at thes cutie stamps designed by Debra Cooper! I see cute little birdies! and for more stitchy things below...

look at what you can stitch, oh I mean stamp!!! How cool-e-o! Annie and Eva, these are for you.

More FOOD FOR THOUGHT? They have a recipe card swap I think is pretty interesting sounding http://www.quiltingarts.com/cpsmag/extras/artful_ingredients.html

Would it be fun to do this with eachother? I can be the hostess, which means you all send the cards to me, and I will redistribute them amongst us, as well as post the scans of each card (front and back) Let me know if we would like to do this? I also am asking Leslie, Jill and Kelli.

I think we should go for it. It gives an opportunity to make something different that we do on daily basis.
Let`s agree on topic or theme too.
I`m in, anyway!

Long comment:
I thought the theme would be recipes, and we would standardize the size, decorationg both front and backs, following the guidelines from Cloth Paper Scissors, did the link work? using the clear vinyl and the "floater thingies", (Things that are enclosed inside with the art recipe card and then sewn closed into the viny) The key is to have a delicious recipe that is usable. Metric measurements are OK, I will include a conversion with the recipes as I send them out. When the cards are mailed to me, Also enclose a check for the postage onto the recipient, you over the pond-ers sorry that will be more costly. I can take charge cards, but don't have paypal set up, so if you want to do the S&H that way, I can give directions to whomever asks. I can also make copies and snail mail all the pages from the magazine to those that don't get the zine near them.

What do you gals think of having the end of the summer as a deadline? OH and maybe the theme can be a holiday recipe? Maybe a favorite Christmas dessert or holiday cocktail?!! Oooh, yes!

Pick a size, that you think will work, I think the small index card might be too small for art and a recipe, perhaps the larger size?

Annie, maybe you can e-mail the other gals and pass this challenge on?

And I just peeked at the link and saw another suggestion, how about adding a hanger so they can become ornamets? Very appropo...

Recipe sounds fun :)I will try it out before I turn it into "art" though, so I`m absolutely sure, it tastes good. What about giving it a name too?
Are you convinced, it has to be vinyl? I`m not sure if I like vinyl things.......Can we have this as an option maybe? Please?
And lets be more specific about deadline too! What about last week of August or something.
Sorry about those questions/suggestions, I did n`t want to make it too difficult :)
I already want to start with this project - some ideas are moving in my brain thing :)

Nic- I will happily send the email.

Re: size- how about 4x6?
Re: vinyl- I'm with Eva, not a big fan of the vinyl, so can the vinyl thing be optional?
Re: postage- how about we all split the postage?

Nic, are we talking about doing originals for each person who participates (like an edition)? So if 5 of us are in, we all create 5 recipe cards? I hope so!!!

And I love the hanger idea!

Also agree with Eva on the specific deadline.

Man, choosing a recipe is going to be a killer.... in a good way!

Even longer response...
OK, The clear vinyl part of the project, is the focus of the CPS challenge, and is simply to be able to create an encased object, and a place where the artist can add "floaters" (Floaters are things like beads, bottle caps, lace, die-cut, shapes, sparkles, etc. Since it is sewn, then perhaps a sheer fabric, wax paper, diluted glue over tissue paper, where you can see the art and recipe through? Remember it still has to function as a readable recipe. So if 2 people are not so hot with vinyl, we should probably not do it, as you might get someone else's vinyl wrapped art. So no vinyl? Get out your hot glue guns though, girls, because I still want to add the challenge of the "floater thingies" (now maybe we'll call them "sticker thingies") so you can stick and collage extra baubbles or momentos.

Last week of August to be mailed to me is perfect. I will photo them and mail them out within the first two weeks of Sept. I can post the pictures in the blog for all to see around the holidays to get us all in the mood.

4"x6" sounds great. The card/paper size will be 4x6, the hanger and anything else that is used can flow beyond that size, but may be able to bend/fold over for mailing purposes? Just keep size in mind when we are getting mailing prices.

Wow, I just re-read the limited edition idea. whew! beyond what I was thinking. Concept is we each do one, send it to me, I mix them up and resend them out to everyone, who receives a different card in return. 5-7 limited art recipe cards might be an extra big chunk of commitment. What does everyone else think about that?

I think the way the postage 'normally' works in these things is each artist submitting something mails the piece(out of pocket) to the host, including payment for the return mailing, simple with standard sizes and US mailing.

Not sure how to divy up postage from Europe and Australia? maybe each of the long distance mailer, goes to the post with something size comparable, and give me a cost. They should probably be mailed in bubble pack envelopes? I can do the same from here, and get prices going to Europe and Australia, (I will need mailing addresses, e-mail me that separately) And then tally up our 5-7 postages x 2, and then divide that by 5-7? That sound right?
Annie, maybe you can figure this part out 'officially'...

Last thought, will we except a submission from a non-contributor?
